    Cubed Steak and Gravy

    List of Ingredients

    4 - 6 pieces cubed steak
    1 c. flour
    salt to taste
    pepper to taste
    3 T. vegetable oil
    1 pkg. Lipton onion soup mix

    Recipe

    Preheat skillet with oil. Combine flour, salt and pepper; dredge steak in flour. Place in preheated skillet. Brown steak on both sides; remove from pan. With drippings, make gravy by adding at least 2 tablespoons of flour to the grease in pan. Turn heat to medium. If needed, add more oil to pan. Stir with a fork until gravy is browned. Add about 1 1/2 c. of water slowly to the browned mixture. It will begin to thicken. Mix onion soup mix with 1 c. water. Add to gravy in pan. Mix well, then put steak back in gravy. Cover; turn heat to low and cook for 1 hour, until steak is tender. May cook steak in crockpot by adding steak and gravy and cook on low for 5 hrs.
