Recipe Introduction
My own personal version of shepherd's Pie. Quick and easy to make.
List of Ingredients
- 1 1/3 Cups instant mashed potatoes
- 1 2/3 Cups milk
- 2 Tablespoons butter
- 1 Teaspoon butter
- 1 Teaspoon salt, divided
- 1 Pound ground beef (Italian sausage is a good option)
- 1/4 Teaspoon black pepper
- 1 12oz jar beef gravy
- 1 10oz package frozen mixed vegetables, thawed & drained
- 3/4 Cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325'
- Prepare 4 servings instant mashed potatoes according to box instructions, using milk, butter and salt. Set aside.
- Cook ground beef (or sausage) in skillet on high heat, until browned and crumbly. Drain well.
- Sprinkle ground beef with remaining 1/2 tsp salt and black pepper.
- Add beef gravy and mixed vegetables to meat, stir well.
- Cook meat mixture over medium heat until hot.
- Spoon mashed potatoes in a ring around outside edges of skillet, leaving 3inch circle in center.
- Sprinkle grated Parmesan evenly over mashed potatoes.
- Bake until Parmesan is golden, usually about 5-10 minutes.
Final Comments
You can add or take away certain ingredients that you or your family enjoy. Italian sausage is a great option to add along with the beef or by itself.
