    Stuffed Mushrooms


    * 12 large mushrooms
    * 1/4 cup margarine
    * 3/4 cup finely chopped onion
    * 1 t. salt
    * 1/4 lb. bulk sausage
    * 1 cup dried bread crumbs or crackers
    * 1 egg, beaten

    Recipe




    Wash and remove stems from mushrooms.

    Set aside mushroom caps and finely chop the stems.

    In a 2 quart saucepan melt margarine over medium heat.

    Add chopped mushroom stems, onion, salt and sausage.

    Cook until onion is tender, about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    Remove from heat, stir in crumbs and beaten egg and mix well.

    Spoon mixture into mushroom caps and place stuffed side up, on rack in broiler pan.

    Just before serving time, broil mushrooms about 8 minutes or until tender.
