Recipe Introduction
This recipe was passed down to me from Bob's mother. She said she found this recipe in the Grit Newspaper 40-45 years ago. For some reason, when she fixes the recipe it tastes better than mine, and I tell her she left something out of my recipe so her son, my husband, would always say hers was better. She swears to me that she gave me the same recipe that she uses. This has been a good-natured ribbing between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law for the last 30 years. I hope you will enjoy the recipe as much as our family!
List of Ingredients
Western Baked Beans
1 lb ground beef
1 pkg Lipton onion soup mix
1 cup ketchup
2 Tbsps brown sugar
1 tsp prepared mustard
1 Tbsp vinegar
1/2 cup water
2 1/2 lb pork n' beansRecipe
Brown and drain the ground beef.
Sprinkle Lipton onion soup mix over meat and add water to mix.
Add ketchup, brown sugar, mustard and vinegar.
Cook until onions are tender.
Add pork Nubians and simmer for about 1/2 hour.
Serve and listen for the oohhs and aahhs.
