Make Ahead Unstuffed Shells
4 cups medium pasta shells, uncooked
1 lb (455 g) extra lean ground beef
1 - 20 fl oz (645 ml) jar pasta sauce
3/4 cup Philadelphia Light Cream Cheese Spread (3/4 of an 8 oz/250 g tub)
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup Kraft 100% Parmesan Shredded Cheese
1/3 cup chopped fresh basil
1 1/2 cups Kraft Part Skim Mozzarella Shredded Cheese
Recipe
Cook the pasta as directed on the package, omitting the salt.
Meanwhile, brown the meat in a large skillet.
Stir in the pasta sauce & simmer over medium heat for 2 minutes, stirring frequently.
Remove the skillet from the heat.
Drain the pasta.
Whisk the cream cheese spread, milk & parmesan cheese in a large bowl until well blended.
Add the pasta & basil, stirring gently until the pasta is evenly coated.
Spread half of the meat sauce onto the bottom of a 9 x 13 inch baking dish sprayed with cooking spray.
Cover that with the pasta mixture, then the remaining meat sauce.
Sprinkle with the mozzarella cheese.
Cover with foil wrap & refrigerate for up to 24 hours.
Preheat the oven to 375ºF.
Bake the casserole, covered, for 40 to 45 minutes or until it is heated through, uncovering it after 30 minutes.
