Holiday Apple And Onion Bake
butter, to grease baking pan
1 1/2 lbs firm apples
1 lg sliced onion; separated into rings
3/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
1 1/2 cup coarse bread crumbs
2 Tbsp Butter; cut into small pieces
Recipe
Butter 12- by 8-inch baking pan.
Peel and slice apples 3/8-inch thick.
Arrange apple slices in overlapping layer in baking pan.
Top with layer of onion rings.
Sprinkle with brown sugar and salt.
Top with bread crumbs and bits of butter.
Cover with foil.
Bake in 300-degree oven for 3 hours.
Remove foil.
Bake for 30 minutes, or until juices have evaporated and
bread-crumb topping is browned.
Cool slightly.
Serve while still hot.
