    Apple Danish Cheesecake


    Crust:

    1 cup flour
    1/2 cup ground almonds
    1/4 cup sugar
    1/2 cup cold butter
    1/4 teaspoon almond extract

    Filling:

    8 ounces softened cream cheese
    1/4 cup sugar
    1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
    1 egg

    Topping:

    1/3 cup brown sugar
    1 tablespoon flour
    1 teaspoon cinnamon
    4 cups thinly sliced, peeled tart apples
    1/3 cup slivered almonds

    Recipe




    Crust:

    Heat oven to 350°F.

    Grease 9 inch springform pan.

    Combine flour, almonds and sugar.

    Cut in butter till crumbly.

    Add almond extract.

    Shape into a ball; place between two sheets of waxed paper.

    Roll into 10 inch circle.

    Transfer gently to prepared pan.

    Gently press dough against the bottom and up sides of pan.

    Refrigerate 30 minutes.

    Filling:

    Beat cream cheese, sugar and cream of tartar till smooth.

    Add egg, beat on low till just combined.

    Pour over crust.

    Topping:

    Combine brown sugar, flour and cinnamon.

    Add apples and stir till coated.

    Spoon over filling.

    Sprinkle with almonds.

    Bake for 40-45 minutes till golden brown.

    Cool on rack 10 minutes.

    Run knife around edge of pan to loosen.

    Cool 1 hour longer.

    Refrigerate overnight.

    Remove sides of pan.
