    Nora is a staff writer at The Inquirer and Mirror. She said this dessert is not only delicious, but particularly festive served in a clear dish, when its multi-colored layers can be seen. Nora’s family has served this sweet treat for years at their Christmas Eve dinner.

    List of Ingredients




    Nora Lyons’ Mom’s Trifle


    1/2 cup jellied cranberry sauce
    3 tbs. water
    1 4-serving size instant vanilla pudding
    1 cup milk
    1 8 oz. carton yogurt - vanilla, peach, or lemon
    Cool whip
    1 3-oz. package Lady Fingers or cut-up pound cake
    1 1/2 cup unsweetened peach slices, drained
    1 1/2 -2 cups halved strawberries, grapes, or oranges

    Recipe




    1. Heat cranberry sauce, water, and instant pudding mix until smooth, cool.

    2. Finish preparing pudding with milk and yogurt or Cool Whip instead of following box directions.

    3. Cover bottom and sides of one- or two-quart glass bowl with lady fingers or pound cake.

    4. Toss one cup of peaches with one cup of other chosen fruit. Spoon half of the fruit over lady fingers, half of the cranberry mixture, a layer of Cool Whip and repeat.

    5. Cover and chill at least four hours.

    6. Top with layer of Cool Whip and remaining fruit.
