    Turkey in a Bag

    Turkey in a Bag


    12 to 24 lb turkey, thawed
    1 T flour
    2 stalks celery
    2 carrots, peeled and cut in chunks
    1 medium onion, sliced
    Vegetable oil
    Salt and pepper to taste
    Reynolds oven cooking bag for Turkey

    Recipe


    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

    Shake flour into Oven Cooking Bag, place in a Roasting Pan at least 2 inches deep.

    Add vegetables to bag.

    Remove neck and giblets from turkey.

    Rinse turkey: pat dry.

    Stuff lightly with your favorite stuffing. Brush turkey with oil.

    Place turkey in the bag.

    Close bag with nylon tie provided.

    Cut six 1/2 inch slits in top of bag.

    Insert meat thermometer through slit into the thickest part of the inner thigh not touching the bone.

    Bake until the meat thermometer reads 180 degrees.

    2- 2 1/2 hours 12-16 lb .
    2 1/2 - 3 hours 16-20 lb
    3 -3 1/2 hours 20-24 lb

    Add 1/2 hour for a stuffed bird.

    Let stand 15 minutes in bag.

    If turkey sticks to bag, gently loosen bag from turkey before opening bag.

    Use the juice and drippings to make Turkey Gravy
