    Pumpkin Doughnuts

    Pumpkin Doughnuts


    ¼ cup shortening
    1 cup sugar
    2 eggs
    1 cup canned pumpkin
    1½ teaspoons vanilla
    ¼ teaspoon butter flavoring
    ½ cup buttermilk
    5 cups flour, sifted
    4 teaspoons baking powder
    1½ teaspoons salt
    1 teaspoon soda
    1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

    Recipe


    Cream shortening and sugar.

    Add eggs and beat well.

    Combine pumpkin, flavorings and buttermilk and add to creamed mixture alternately with sifted dry ingredients.

    Roll out on lightly floured pastry cloth.

    Cut with doughnut cutter.

    Let stand about 15 minutes and fry in hot deep fat (360 to 375°) about 3 minutes on each side.

    Makes four to four and one half dozen.
