    Spice Scones


    3/4 teaspoon all-purpose flour
    1 1/2 teaspoons ginger, ground
    1 1/2 teaspoons nutmeg, ground
    6 tablespoons vegetable shortening
    1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
    1/4 cup molasses
    1 tablespoon brandy

    Recipe




    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    Combine the flour and spices.

    In a large mixing bowl, cream vegetable shortening and sugar.

    Beat in the molasses and brandy.
    Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.

    Drop the dough by spoonfuls 2 1/2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.

    Bake 5 to 6 minutes, until golden brown.

    As soon as the cookies are cool enough to handle, remove them from the baking sheet and roll up around metal cone shapes.

    Place seam side down on wire racks to cool.
