    Wild Ranch Chili Beans w/ Old Time Fried Bread


    **CHILI BEANS**

    1 pound ground sirloin
    1/2 pound ground pork
    1 large onion (up to 2) -- chopped
    1 green or red pepper (up to 2) -- chopped
    1 cup celery -- sliced
    2 cloves garlic (up to 3)
    1/2 cup butter
    32 ounces pinto beans
    16 ounces Mexican style tomatoes
    4 ounces mushrooms -- drained
    2 1/4 ounces sliced black olives
    1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    1 envelope chili mix (1.25 oz)
    1/2 cup water beef broth (optional)

    **FRIED BREAD**

    2 envelopes dry yeast (.25 oz ea)
    2 1/4 cups warm water
    3 tablespoons sugar
    2 tablespoons salt oil
    7 cups flour (up to 7.25 cups) – divided

    Recipe




    For beans, brown ground sirloin and ground pork. Drain.

    Sauté onions, green peppers, celery and garlic in butter.

    Add ground sirloin mixture.

    Simmer for 1 hour.

    Add pinto beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, olives, cayenne pepper, chili mix and water.

    Thin with beef broth as needed. Cook until heated through.

    For bread, dissolve yeast in warm water in bowl.

    Add sugar, salt, 3 tablespoons oil and half of flour. Mix well with large spoon.

    Add remaining flour. Mix with hands. Turn onto lightly floured board.

    Knead 10 minutes.

    Place in greased bowl. cover with cloth. Let rise for 1
    to 2 hours.

    Heat 1 inch oil in skillet. Pinch off pieces of dough, pull and stretch.

    Place in hot oil. Brown on both sides. Drain on paper towels.
