Bread, Lemon
List of Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs, slightly beaten
- 1-1/4 cups sifted flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts
- Grated peel of 1 lemon
- GLAZE:
- 1/4 cup sugar
- Juice of 1 lemon
Instructions
- Cream butter until soft. Beat in sugar until fluffy; blend in eggs.
- Mix dry ingredients and add to butter/sugar mixture alternately with milk. Add nuts and lemon peel.
- Put into greased loaf pan and bake at 350 for 1 hour for a large loaf and 40-45 minutes for a small loaf. Test with a toothpick.
- Mix sugar and lemon juice to make glaze. Poke holes in the bread with a fork and pour glaze over.
