    Bread, Lemon


    List of Ingredients


    • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
    • 1-1/4 cups sifted flour
    • 1 tsp baking powder
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1/2 cup milk
    • 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts
    • Grated peel of 1 lemon
    • GLAZE:
    • 1/4 cup sugar
    • Juice of 1 lemon


    Instructions


    1. Cream butter until soft. Beat in sugar until fluffy; blend in eggs.

    2. Mix dry ingredients and add to butter/sugar mixture alternately with milk. Add nuts and lemon peel.

    3. Put into greased loaf pan and bake at 350 for 1 hour for a large loaf and 40-45 minutes for a small loaf. Test with a toothpick.

    4. Mix sugar and lemon juice to make glaze. Poke holes in the bread with a fork and pour glaze over.
