Bread, Raisin Date

List of Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/3 cup chopped dates
- 1/3 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup margarine
- 1 egg, beaten
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour an 8x4 inch loaf pan.
- Sift the dry ingredients together. Stir in the dates and raisins.
- Combine the honey, brown sugar, milk and margarine in a heavy saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring frequently until sugar is dissolved and margarine is melted. Pour onto flour mixture. Beat until thoroughly blended. Stir in the beaten egg.
- Spoon into pan and level surface. Bake for 1-1/4 hours until well browned and firm. Cover with foil if necessary to prevent over browning.
- Cool for 5 minutes. Loosen edges and remove from pan. Cool on wire rack.
- Serve sliced with butter.
