2 cups elbow macaroni
6 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
3 cups milk
2 cups processed American cheese
2 cups tuna in water, drained
2 cups tart apples, cored and diced
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
1/2 cup soft bread crumbs
Recipe
1. Cook macaroni according to package directions; drain.
2. In saucepan, melt 6 tablespoons butter or margarine over low heat. Blend in flour and 3/4 teaspoon salt. Add milk all at once. Cook quickly, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and bubbles.
3. Add cheese; stir until cheese is melted. Stir in tuna, diced apples and drained macaroni.
4. Turn into a 12 x 7 x 2-inch baking dish.
5. Combine melted butter and crumbs. Sprinkle on top of casserole.
6. Bake in 350 degree F. oven for 30 minutes, or until apples are tender.
