Melt-in-Your-Mouth Sugar Cookies
List of Ingredients
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup oil
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2-1/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon salt
Recipe
Combine first 4 ingredients. Beat well. Add the remaining 6 ingredients.
Roll into 1-1/2 inch balls and press with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar.
Bake at 325 degrees on greased cookie sheets until lightly brown on edges, about 10 minutes.
A note from the cook who submitted the recipe to FoodWeb: "For different holidays, I use different colored sugar mixed with the regular sugar that I dip the glass in, i.e. green and red for Christmas, pink for Valentine's Day."
