Ham Steak, Maple
List of Ingredients
1 reduced-sodium lean ham steak (about 1 pound), 1-inch thick, trimmed
1/8 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp cloves
1/8 tsp nutmeg
2 cans (15 oz ea) sweet cut yams packed in light syrup, drained
2 medium Granny Smith apples, cored and thinly sliced (about 2 cups)
1/3 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup apple juice or apple cider
1/2 tsp Dijon-style mustard
Recipe
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a shallow baking dish with vegetable cooking spray.
Cut several slits around edge of ham steak to prevent curling as it bakes. Place in prepared dish; sprinkle with cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. Place yams and apples around ham steak.
In a medium bowl, combine maple syrup, apple juice and mustard. Mix well. Drizzle syrup mixture over ham steak.
Bake, basting ham steak occasionally with pan juices, until mixture is heated through and apples are tender, about 20 minutes.
