    List of Ingredients

    2 teaspoons margarine

1 medium yellow onion (about 1 cup)

    1 clove garlic, minced

    2-1/2 cups water

    1 cup white rice

    1/2 cup orzo

1/4 cup toasted slivered almonds (optional)

    1/4 cup golden raisins

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    1/2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

    1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

    Recipe

    1. In a medium saucepan, melt margarine over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; sauté until tender, about 5 minutes. Add water and bring mixture to a boil.

    2. Stir in rice, orzo, almonds, raisins, salt, ginger, and cumin. Reduce heat to low; simmer, covered, until liquid is almost absorbed, about 30 minutes.

    3. Place pilaf on a serving plate. Fluff pilaf lightly with a fork. Serve immediately.
