Split Green Pea Soup with Ham
List of Ingredients
- 1 ham bone
- 8 cups water
- 1 package (1 lb) dried split green peas
- 4 medium carrots, pared and diced
- 1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
- 1 bay leaf
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Water, milk or tomato juice to thin soup if necessary
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a large kettle. Cover and simmer 1 hour, or until peas are soft.
- Take out ham bone and cut off meat and add to soup. Taste and season with salt and pepper.
- Thin with water, milk or tomato juice if necessary
