This cake uses the egg yolks that are left after baking an Angel Food Cake.
List of Ingredients
- 3 cups sifted cake flour
- 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 10 to 12 egg yolks
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. lemon extract
- 1 cup cold water
Instructions
- Put egg yolks in large bowl of mixer and beat on high speed for about 6 minutes. Gradually beat in sifted sugar on high speed for about 2 minutes. Turn to low speed and add vanilla, extracts, and water. Sprinkle in sifted flour mixture gradually and quickly while still on low; scrape bowl while beating. Beat only enough to blend. Pour into an ungreased tube pan. Bake in 350 degree oven for 1 hour. Hang to cool before removing from pan.
