    BEER STEAK

    List of Ingredients


    • 1/4 cup bacon drippings or butter
    • 2 lb. round steak, 1” thick
    • flour
    • 1 large onion, chopped
    • 1 cup beer
    • 1 bay leaf
    • sprig of parsley
    • 1/4 tsp. leaf thyme
    • salt and pepper


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 275. Heat butter or drippings over medium-high heat. Dredge meat in flour and brown quickly on both sides. Remove and set aside. Add onion and sauté until soft. Remove half and spread remaining onion evenly in skillet. Add meat and top with reserved onion. Pour in beer and add bouquet garni and salt and pepper to taste. Cover and bake until fork tender – about 2 hours.
