    List of Ingredients


    • Dough:
    • 2 cups lukewarm water
    • 1 tsp. salt
    • 1 egg
    • 3 Tbsp. shortening
    • 2 pkg. yeast
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 1/4 cup evaporated milk
    • 7 cups flour, 1 cup while kneading
    • Filling:
    • chicken or pork
    • 1 large onion
    • butter
    • salt
    • sugar
    • soya sauce


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 200. Mix as for bread dough. Let rise in warm oven for 5 minutes, the let dough rise 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Cut off dough into desired size, wrap around desired filling (sweet or savoury) and rise again. Steam about 20 minutes. Makes about 88 siopao.

    2. Filling: Cook meat by boiling it; cool and dice. Sauté onion and chopped meat in butter. Season to taste with salt, sugar, and soya sauce. The siopao may be frozen, then resteamed until heated through.
