Recipe Introduction
Dissolve yeast in water and sugar and let stand for 10 minutes. In mixing bowl, put shortening, butter, sugar and salt. Over this, pour hot water and vinegar and mix. Cool to lukewarm. Add to yeast and 2 well beaten eggs with small amount of flour. Beat with beater. Add more flour until dough is about the consistancy of biscuit dough. Let rise until double in bulk. Put in pans and let rise. Bake. This is a double recipe – can be halved easily.

- 2 Tbsp. yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 scant Tbsp. sugar
- shortening and butter, each the size of an egg
- scant 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 3 cups hot water
- 2 tsp. vinegar
- 2 well beaten eggs
- flour (about 8-9 cups)
