    List of Ingredients


    • 1 cup rolled oats
    • 2 Tbsp. butter, melted
    • 1 Tbsp. oil
    • 1 Tbsp. dry yeast
    • 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
    • 3/4 cup brown sugar
    • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
    • 5 cups flour + 1 cup for kneading
    • pecans, optional


    Instructions


    1. Pour 2 cups boiling water over the rolled oats. Add melted butter and oil and let stand until lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in mixture of water and 1/2 Tbsp. sugar, then add to the oatmeal. Mix in brown sugar, salt and flour. Mix well. Knead using additional flour, then cover and rise until double. Shape dough into buns and place on cookie sheet. Cover with a tea towel and let rise again until double in bulk. Bake at 375 degrees F. for 25 minutes.
