- 3/4 cup cornmeal or Red River Cereal
- 3/4 cup oatmeal
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. salt
- 1/2 cup shortening or oil
- 2/3 cup molasses
- 5 cups boiling water
- 2 Tbsp. dry yeast
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 cup warm water
Instructions
- Mix grains, salt, oil, molasses and boiling water and let cool. Mix yeast, sugar, water, and let stand for 10 minutes. Add above mixture and 12 to 14 cups all-purpose flour. Let rise, punch down and let rise again. Form loaves and rise until double. Bake 3/4 hour at 375 degrees.
