List of Ingredients
2 lb. pork sausage
1/2 cup onion, sliced
4 1/2 cups water
8 oz. can water chestnuts, drained
1 cup celery, chopped
1 cup green pepper, chopped
2 envelopes chicken noodle soup mix
1 cup brown rice
1/4 cup silvered almonds
Recipe
Brown sausage in a large deep skillet over medium heat, breaking up meat with a spoon.
Remove from skillet with a slotted spoon.
Pour off all but 2 T of drippings.
Add celery, green pepper and onion.
Cook 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
Stir in soup mix, rice and water chestnuts.
Simmer 10 minutes.
Stir in sausage.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Spread sausage mixture in a 9x13" dish.
Sprinkle with almonds.
Cover and bake 45 minutes or until rice is tender.
Uncover and bake 15 to 20 minutes longer until liquid has evaporated.
Makes 8 to 12 servings.
