    1/2 cup milk
    1/4 cup water
    1/2 cup butter
    2 cups flour
    1/4 cup sugar
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1 package active dry yeast
    1 egg
    1 cup flour
    1/2 cup sugar
    1/2 cup brown sugar -- packed
    2 teaspoons cinnamon
    6 tablespoons butter
    1 egg yolk
    powdered sugar

    Grease a 9-inch square pan. In a medium saucepan, mix milk, water and 1/2 cup butter. Heat only until warm (120 degrees F), butter does not need to melt. In a large bowl, mix 1/2 cup flour, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, salt and yeast. Add warm milk mixture. Beat with electric mixer on medium speed 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Add 1 cup flour and 1 egg. Beat with electric mixer on high speed 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. By hand, stir in 1/2 cup flour. Spread batter in greased pan. In a medium bowl, mix 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, brown sugar and cinnamon. With a pastry blender or 2 knives, cut in 6 tablespoons butter and egg yolk. Crumble brown sugar mixture over top of batter. Cover and let rise in a warm place about 1 hour or until doubled in bulk. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Bake 40 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Cool about 30 minutes. Serve slightly warm. Makes 1 coffeecake.
