List of Ingredients
2 tablespoons corn oil
2 pounds round steak
salt and pepper -- to taste
garlic powder -- to taste
14 ounces diced tomatoes -- canned
10 ounces sliced mushrooms -- with juice
5 1/2 ounces tomato paste
1 medium onion -- chunked
6 stalks celery -- chunked
Cut meat into serving size pieces. Brown meat in hot oil. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Then lightly sprinkle with garlic powder to taste. Place browned meat into a large casserole.
In a large bowl, combine tomatoes, mushrooms and their juice and tomato paste. Peel onion and cut into fairly large pieces. Add to tomatoes. Stir and pour over meat. Cover and bake at 350 degrees F for 2 to 2 1/2 hours or until very tender. Serves 6.
