Recipe Introduction
A foundation cookie dough recipe of Scandinavian origin. Handy to have for holiday baking and a much loved recipe. Use this to bake the Butter Cookie Shells, Raspberry Ribbons or Spritz.
List of Ingredients
1 cup butter -- room temperature
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg -- slightly beaten
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon water -- up to 2 teaspoons total
In a medium bowl, mix butter, sugar, egg, flour, vanilla and salt until a pliable dough forms. If mixture seems dry, work in a teaspoon or two of water, enough so the dough can be gathered in a ball. Gather into a ball and knead slightly. Wrap in plastic wrap and hill 30 minutes or until ready to use.
Makes about 2 cups dough.
