Bernaise Sandwich (Berner Brotchen)

2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
2/3 cup cream
8 ham slices
4 toast slices
4 tablespoons Swiss cheese -- shredded
Melt butter and stir in flour until smooth. Blend in cream, stirring until thickened. Chop ham and add to sauce. Heap on toast. Top with Swiss cheese and broil.
Serves 4.
