Almond Bars
List of Ingredients
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup quick-cooking oats
1/2 cup unsifted whole wheat flour
1/4 cup wheat germ
2 teaspoons grated orange rind
2 eggs
1 cup whole blanched almonds
1/4 cup raisins
1/4 cup flaked coconut
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate bits
Recipe
Cream butter with 1/2 cup brown sugar until soft; beat in oats, flours,
wheat germ and orange rind. Pat in to 8-inch square pan. Then mix eggs,
almonds, raisins, coconut, chocolate bits and 1/4 cup brown sugar. Pour
over base and spread out evenly. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes or until
almonds are golden brown. Cool and cut in to a dozen bars. Wrap in aluminum
foil.
