    Cherry Pie; Fresh

    * 1 (9 inch) double crust pie shell
    * 4 cups fresh cherries; pitted
    * 1 1/3 cups sugar
    * 1/3 cup all purpose flour
    * 1 teaspoon almond extract
    add red food coloring to give a better color
    * 1 tablespoon butter or margarine

    Line a 9-inch pie pan with pastry. Combine cherries, sugar, flour, and almond extract. Put into pan and cook until thick , add butter and then
    Pour into unbaked pie shell, Put water on the edges of the bottom crust. Cover with top crust, and seal edges.
    Cut slits in center of crust to allow steam to escape. Bake at 400�F about 30 to 40 minutes or until done. Serve with whipped cream, if desired. To freeze, omit baking and wrap securely. To serve, bake frozen pie at 400�F from 55 minutes to 1 hour and 10 minutes
    or until golden brown.
