GRANDMA DURDEL'S ORANGE SLICE CAKE
300 D. FOR 1 1/2 HOUES ON CENTER RACK
CREAM 2 STICKS OF OLEO
2 C. OF SUGAR
1 tsp. vanilla
THEN ADD 4 WELL BEATEN EGGS... MIX WELL
THEN ADD 1/2 C. ( I USE MORE LIKE 1 BUTTERMILK WITH 1 TSP. SODA IN IT
.MIX AND THEN ADD 3 1/2 C, OF SITED FLOUR WITH 1/2 SALT IN IT.
MIX WELL AND THEN ADD 1 LB. OF
ORANGE SLICES CUT IN SMALL CHUCKS AND ROLLED IN
FLOUR TO KEEP THEM FROM STICKING.
ADD 1 PKG. OF CHOPPED UP DATES (14 OZ.),
AND 2 C. OF CHOPPED WALNUTS
, 1 CAN (3 1/2 OZ.) OF ANGEL HAIR COCONUT... MIX WELL
..POUR INTO ANGEL FOOD CAKE PAN OR BUNT PANS
AND BAKE. WHILE BAKING MIX UP THE FOLLOWING:
1 CUP OF ORANGE JUICE AND 1 1/2 TO 2 C. OF POWDERED SUGAR..
.AFTER
TAKING THE CAKE OUT THE OVEN...PUNCH HOLES IN THE
TOP OF THE CAKE AND THEN POUR OVER THE ORANGE
JUICE MIXTURE AND LET SET OVER NIGHT IN THE RFRIG
BEFORE TAKING THE CAKE OUT OF THE PAN. THIS SO GOOD
FOR SPECIAL GIFTS AND PEOPLE.. MY FAVORITE...ALSO
ONE RECIPE CALL FOR GREASED AND FLOURED PANS. I
WOULD FOR BUNT PANS.
