When slicing apples keep them white by

I put several tablespoons of salt in cold water and drop in the sliced apples and when I get thru with slicing I pour off the water. I did this yesterday when canning 11 qts. of sliced apples. They looked wonderful. If the reciipe for pies call for salt in the pie, I just leave tha salt out. I have done this for years. They are good just to eat straight from the jars. No salt taste at all. I don't rinse the salt off. Mona
