Linda's Stroganoff using Iowa Maid rites
Source of Recipe

I am tried to duplicate the recipe that was originally used the best I can since I never write any of this down as I make something. Step 1 Prepare recipe of Iowa Maid Rites
4 lbs ground beef
1 (1 oz) pkg dry onion soup mix
1 1/2 cans condensed French onion soup (10.5 oz cans) Crumble the ground beef into a large skillet over medium high heat. Cook and stir until evenly browned, crumbling even more as it cooks. Drain off the grease. Stir in the onion soup mix and French onion soup. Cover, and simmer over low heat for about 2 hours, or you may transfer to a slow cooker for this part. Serve on hamburger buns like a sloppy joe. We had probably used about 1/2 of the recipe for sandwiches previous to taking the rest for the stroganoff. Note: This meat mixture freezes well…I make it up and keep some in the freezer to use not only for the sandwiches, but it is good served over rice….mixed it with spaghetti sauce for a tasty meaty spaghetti sauce…used it in chili…lots of uses in recipes. Additional ingredients for Stroganoff 1-2 bags of "no yolk medium wide noodles….I used two bags since I intened to have it both for at home and work 1 can beefy mushroom soup 1 can cream of mushroom soup 2 cups French onion dip 2 cups sour cream salt and pepper to taste ( I like to use a coarser grind of black pepper to get a little better flavor) also used a little garlic salt and seasoned salt If not creamy enough, you can add a little milk. Yes, I did have a few peas in it this time-this was just an afterthought since I had some left from a previous meal-they did add a little color. Cook noodles as directed on package. Heat the meat if you have had it refrigerated while the noodles are cooking. Drain noodles, add the soup , French Onion dip, sour cream ,heated meat mixture and salt and pepper to taste. Let simmer until warmed throughout. Be sure to stir occasionally to avoid sticking to bottom of pan. If you would like, you can do as I did and put into crockpot 4-5 hours prior to meal and let simmer…mine was cold when I put it in about 6 am and was plenty warm by 11:30. Add a tossed lettuce salad and you have a great meal.
