    Crockpot Chicago Style Italian Beef

    List of Ingredients




    3 cups water
    1 tablespoon Italian season
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon ground black pepper
    1 teaspoon onion salt
    1 teaspoon garlic powder
    1 bay leaf
    1 pack dry Good Seasons Italian salad dressing mix
    5 pound beef roast

    Recipe




    Combine water with salt, ground black pepper, Italian seasoning, onion salt, parsley, garlic powder, bay leaf, and salad dressing mix in a saucepan. Stir well, and bring to a boil.
    Place roast in Crockpot, and pour mixture over the meat.
    Cover, and cook on Low for 10 to 12 hours, or on High for 4 to 5 hours. When done, remove and shred meat with a fork. Reserve some liquid to keep meat most for serving.

    VARIATIONS:

    I usually add 1 green & 1 red bell pepper and 1 large onion

    For spicy beef - add 1, 16oz. jar pepperoncini with juice. Subtract 1 cup of water.

    Sometimes I serve this in a flour tort shell, like a burritos.
