    OLD FASHIONED PEANUT BRITTLE

    List of Ingredients


    • 2 cups sugar
    • 1 cup light corn syrup
    • 1/2 cup water
    • 4 tablespoons butter or margarine
    • 2 cups raw peanuts, chopped
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla


    Instructions


    1. In large heavy sauce pan heat together sugar, syrup and water.

    2. Stir until sugar dissolves.

    3. Boil on medium to medium high until syrup reaches approximately 250 degrees; add nuts.

    4. Continue to boil and stir until it reaches 305 degrees.

    5. Syrup will be yellow-brown and peanuts will pop and brown slightly.

    6. Remove from heat; add soda, butter and vanilla; stir well.

    7. Pour onto 2 large greased aluminum foil strips.

    8. As candy begins to cool put outer edges to stretch.

    9. When cooled, break into pieces.
