LAYERED VEGETABLE SALAD

List of Ingredients
- 1 head lettuce, torn in bite-size pieces
- 1/2 cup green onions, chopped
- 1/2 cup celery, chopped
- 1 (5 oz.)can sliced water chestnuts, drained
- 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen green peas
- 1 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 T. sugar
- 2 tomatoes, sliced
- 4 hard-boiled eggs, sliced
- 6 slices bacon, fried and crumbled
- 1/2 cup grated American cheese
Instructions
- In trifle bowl, make a single layer of lettuce. Mix onion and celery and sprinkle over lettuce. Sprinkle water chestnuts, then frozen peas.
- Spread mayonnaise evenly on top and sprinkle with sugar. Cover with wrap and refrigerate overnight.
- The next day add tomatoes, eggs, cheese and bacon. Serve.
