    LAYERED VEGETABLE SALAD

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 head lettuce, torn in bite-size pieces
    • 1/2 cup green onions, chopped
    • 1/2 cup celery, chopped
    • 1 (5 oz.)can sliced water chestnuts, drained
    • 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen green peas
    • 1 1/2 cup mayonnaise
    • 1 T. sugar
    • 2 tomatoes, sliced
    • 4 hard-boiled eggs, sliced
    • 6 slices bacon, fried and crumbled
    • 1/2 cup grated American cheese


    Instructions


    1. In trifle bowl, make a single layer of lettuce. Mix onion and celery and sprinkle over lettuce. Sprinkle water chestnuts, then frozen peas.
    2. Spread mayonnaise evenly on top and sprinkle with sugar. Cover with wrap and refrigerate overnight.
    3. The next day add tomatoes, eggs, cheese and bacon. Serve.
