Some uses for Baking Soda:
* Here's an easy way to clean your microwave oven. Stir 2 tbs. each of lemon juice and baking soda into 2 cups of water in a medium microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high, uncovered for 10 minutes. Sponge off any leftover debris.
* Most spills on my tile floor can be wiped up with a damp cloth.
However, once a spill has dried, it requires something EXTRA. I keep a 32 oz. spray bottle with a mixture of 1/4 cup vinegar, 1 tablespoon baking soda, and fill with water. It doesn't take much so the cleaning mixture lasts a long time. Spraying the dried spill with this loosens the spill and can then be easily wiped up.
* To clean your dishwasher, dip a damp rag in baking soda to clean up any inside spots. For odors, sprinkle baking soda in the bottom and let it stand overnight.
* To dissolve grease in a clogged drain, pour 1 cup salt and 1 cup
baking soda down the drain followed by a large amount of boiling water.
* For burnt on stains, sprinkle pots liberally with baking soda and add just enough water to moisten. Let stand for 3 hours, then lift the burned food right out of the pan!
* Quickly remove food that is stuck in casserole dish by filling it with boiling water and 2 Tbs of baking soda or salt.
* Clean your thermos by adding a few tablespoons of baking soda and filling with warm water. Let stand; rinse thoroughly.
* Use a half cup of baking soda in your dishwasher when the dishes have lots of grease on them. It's better and cheaper than adding extra dishwashing soap.
* Crayon marks on walls? This worked wonderfully! A damp rag, dipped in baking soda. Comes off with little effort (elbow grease that is!).
