    EVELYN'S SWISS STEAK


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 top sirloin, fat trimmed off and cut in serving pieces
    • 1/2 cup flour
    • salt and pepper
    • 2 or 3 tablespoons cooking oil
    • 1 (15 ounce can tomatoes) crushed or chopped
    • 1 onion, sliced
    • 1/2 cup celery, sliced
    • 1/2 teaspoons garlic salt or powder
    • some water


    Instructions


    1. Pound the sirloin pieces with a pounder until thin. Roll in the mixed flour, salt and pepper. Brown in the oil. Put the steak in a dutch oven or heavy skillet. Cover. Mix the rest of the ingredients, except water and place on top of the meat. Simmer until tender, 2 to 3 hours and sauce is thickened. Add a little water if needed.
