SWEET AND SOUR MEATBALLS
List of Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon ginger
- 1/2 cup chopped onions
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 cup sliced celery
- 1/2 cup sliced onion
- 1/2 cup sliced green pepper
- 3 slices pineapple cut in pieces
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds
Instructions
- To form meat balls: Mix the beef, eggs, soy, ginger, onions and the cornstach. Form in one inch balls. Fry in frying pan in a little oil until done. Drain and set aside. Add more oil if needed and fry for 2 minutes the celery, onions, green pepers, pineapple and almonds. Return the meatballs and add the sauce and cook one more minute. Serve with rice
- Sauce:
1 tablespoon soy sauce
4 tablespoons vinegar
6 tablespoons sugar
4 tablespoons cornstarch
2 cups water
Mix in a sauce pan and cook until clear and thick. Set aside to be added to the meatballs.
- You may bake the meatballs in a 350 degree oven on a cookie sheet for 30 to 40 minutes turning often.
Final Comments
When I first came across this recipe it was as appitizer and served in a chafing dish with toothpicks. But we like it as a main dish.
