A good trail mix. I got this recipe from Sunset magazine.
List of Ingredients
1 cup regular or quick cooking rolled oats
3 Tablespoons packed brown sugar
1/4 cup shredded coconut
1/4 cup chopped dried apricots
1/4 cup chopped prunes, or dates
1 1/2 cup chopped nuts
2 tablespoons sunflower seeds
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
2 tablesponns raisins
2 tablespoons salad oil
3 tablespoons honey
1/2 teaspoons vanilla
Instructions
Mix together in a large bowl the first 9 ingredients. Set aside.
In a small sauce pan combine the salad oil, honey and vanilla. Heat until bubbly. Pour over the granola mixture and stir well.
Spread mixture in a single layer on a buttered, rimmed baking sheet.
Bake 325 for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring mixture several times. Do not over cook as it will be dry. Remove from oven, and with a wide spatula lift out mixture and place on a large piece of buttered wax paper. Shape into a large rectangle, I use a rolling pin to pack down.
Let it cool, then break into large pieces. Package air tight. Makes about 3 cups.
