A good hearty soup. List of Ingredients 1 package dried beans: red kidney, pinto, navy, black eye, grabanzo or any combination. 2 large onions, chopped 3 small meaty shinbones, or hamhocks about 1 cup ham shredded or cubed 1 Tablespoon salt 2 stalks celery, sliced 2 carrots, sliced 2 potatoes, diced 1 small cabbage, shredded 1 can tomato sauce (15 ounces) 3 tomatoes, peeled and chopped, or 1 15 ounce can of cubed tomatoes garlic puree to taste 1 ring Linguine or Portuguese sausage, sliced Instructions Pour 2 quarts of boiling water over the beans and let soak for an hour. Add the two chopped onions, hamhocks, ham, and salt. Simmer 2 or 3 hours. Add all the rest of the ingredients and cook slowly for another 1/2 to 1 hour. Final Comments Serve with hot bread or rolls.
