    1 PACKAGE DEVIL’S FOOD CAKE MIX
    5 TBS BUTTER, MELTED
    1/3- CUP MILK
    1 LARGE EGG
    1 TSP PURE VANILLA EXTRACT
    1-CUP SEMISWEET CHOCOLATE CHIPS
    3/4-CUP FINELY CHOPPED WALNUTS

    1. PLACE A RACK IN THE CENTER OF THE OVEN AND PREHEAT TO 350°F. LIGHTLY MIST A 13 X9” BAKING PAN WITH VEG. OIL SPRAY AND DUST WITH FLOUR. SHAKE OUT THE EXCESS FLOUR. SET THE PAN ASIDE.
    2. PLACE THE CAKE MIX, MELTED BUTTER, MILK, EGG, AND VANILLA IN A LARGE BOWL. BLEND WITH AN ELECTRIC MIXER ON LOW SPEED FOR 30 SEC. STOP THE MACHINE AND SCRAPE DOWN THE SIDES AND INCREASE THE SPEED TO MEDIUM AND BEAT 1 TO 2 MINUTES MORE SCRAPING THE SIDES AS NEEDED. THE BATTER WILL BE VERY THICK. STIR IN THE CHOCOLATE CHIPS AND WALNUTS.
    3. SCRAPE THE BATTER INTO THE PREPARED PAN. USING A FORK OR YOUR FINGER TIPS, PRESS THE BATTER OUT EVENLY OVER THE BOTTOM OF THE PAN. DON’T WORRY IF IT DOESN’T QUITE REACH THE SIDES. THE BATTER WILL SPREAD OUT ONCE IT GETS IN THE OVEN. PLACE THE PAN IN THE OVEN.
    4. BAKE UNTIL BROWNIES PUFF UP AND ARE FIRM AROUND THE EDGES, 20 TO 25 MINUTES. THEY WILL BE THIN AND CHEWY WHEN COOLED. REMOVE THE PAN AND PLACE IT ON A WIRE RACK TO COOL FOR 20 MINUTES BEFORE CUTTING INTO SQUARES AND SERVING.
