List of Ingredients
1 cup soft shortening
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup sour milk or butter milk
3 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
Recipe
1. Mix shortening, brown sugar and eggs thoroughly.
2. Stir in milk. Sift and stir in flour, baking soda and salt.
3. Chill 1 hour. Drop by teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart on lightly greased cookie sheets.
4. Bake until lightly browned at 400 for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes about 6 dozen.
Cook's Note: To make the sour milk, measure the required amount of milk in a measure cup and add 1 teaspoon cider vinegar. You can also you can add chocolate chips or chocolate candies to these cookies.
