    Cabbage Soup #2

    Serves: 6


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 pound of stew meat
    • 8 cups of water
    • 1 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1/2 tsp oregano
    • 5 whole peppercorns
    • 2 bay leafs
    • 1 can [16oz] tomatoes cut up
    • 1 can [16oz] cut green beans
    • 2 medium sliced carrots
    • 1 medium onion, chopped1 small head cabbage cored and chopped
    • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper [optional]


    Instructions


    1. In a large pot combine meat,water,salt,oregano,peppercorns and bay leaves.
    2. Bring to boil then reduce heat to simmer and simmer 2 hours.
    3. Remove beef when cool enough to handle, cut up meat and discard bones of any. strain broth and skim off excess fat. Return broth to kettle. Add cut up meat,tomatoes and all vegetables except cabbage and red pepper, if desired. Simmer for 30 min. longer, then add cabbage and simmer 30 min. more.
