    Helene's Hungarian Coffee Cake

    List of Ingredients

    2 cups flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 stick margarine
    1 cup sugar
    2 eggs
    1 cup sour cream
    2 tbl. milk
    1 tsp vanilla

    For topping--mix together:
    1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 cup sugar

    Recipe

    In med. bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. In large bowl, cream margarine and sugar. Add eggs and beat until smooth. Add sour cream, vanilla and milk. Combine well. Gradually add dry ingredients. Pour 1/2 of batter into tube pan. Sprinkle topping over batter (reserving 2-3 tbl.) Top with remaining batter, spreading to edges and sprinkle with remaining topping. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center come out clean.

    * Finely chopped apple or drained and chopped canned peaches can be added to cinnamon topping and used between batter layers.
