Recipe Introduction
The bitterness of turnip can vary greatly. The amount of sugar in this recipe can be adjusted to suit your taste. This makes a good-sized bowl. I usually freeze the leftovers with excellent results.
List of Ingredients
2-3 large turnip
1/3 c. sugar*
3/4 c. margarine (1 1/2 sticks)
Salt to taste*Recipe
Peel and cut turnip into 1" cubes. Cover with salted water. Boil, covered, 45-60 minutes, or until very tender when pierced with a fork. Drain well. Add sugar, salt and margarine. Mash well and taste and reseason again with sugar and salt, if necessary.
