Beer- Beer Bread

Soft, chewy bread goes well with cocktails
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon baking powder (double acting)
1 12-ounce beer, room temperature
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1/2 stick butter or margarine
Recipe
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In mixer or food processor, place flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and oregano. Mix until thoroughly blended. Add the beer and mix thoroughly. Spoon or pour batter into an 8 x 10 inch pan, preferably with Teflon coating (if not Teflon coated, make sure it is well greased). Melt butter or margarine and pour evenly over the mix. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour until golden brown. Test with a toothpick to make sure it is baked through. Let rest in pan for 10 minutes before removing.
