    Quick- Cherry Almond Scones

    List of Ingredients


    2 cups baking mix, such as Original Bisquick

    1/4 cup butter, softened

    2 tablespoons sugar

    2/3 cup milk

    1/4 cup cherry preserves

    Almond glaze:

    3/4 cup powdered sugar

    1 tablespoon hot water

    1/4 teaspoon almond extract

    Toasted, chopped almonds

    Yield: 12 scones


    Recipe

    Heat oven to 450 degrees. Lightly grease a cookie sheet. Stir biscuit baking mix, butter and sugar in a medium bowl until crumbly. Stir in milk until dough forms; beat 15 strokes.

    Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto cookie sheet. Make a shallow well in center of each with the back of a spoon. Fill with 1 teaspoon cherry preserves.

    Bake 10 to 15 minutes at 450 degrees or until light golden brown. Drizzle Almond Glaze over the warm sweet rolls. Make glaze by mixing powdered sugar, hot water and almond extract. Sprinkle the glaze, while still wet, with toasted, chopped almonds. Toast them in a dry, small skillet over medium heat until the nuts are fragrant.
